Kelly Archer Interiors Inc. has transformed homes since 2014 captivating Bakersfield residents with spaces that authentically reflect their individual stories and personalities. The full-design studio and storefront invite guests to explore possibilities in crafting their ideal living spaces.
“An individual’s environment significantly influences their emotions and behavior,” said Founder and Lead Designer, Kelly Archer. “Growing up, my parents weren’t well off, but our home was always gorgeous. I loved the fact that the stability of my well-designed home became my sanctuary…that still resonates with me today.”
Kelly Archer Interiors Inc. was born after Archer went through the devastating loss of both her parents. She grew inspired by her mother, who was also an interior designer and believed the best way to honor her, was by providing others with a safe and comfortable home just like her mother gave her as a child.
Upon entering, guests have the opportunity to immerse themselves in a full design experience, with skilled designers who personalize consultations and offer hands-on guidance.
This design studio offers a rich array of diverse fabrics, colors and textiles to help make anyone’s vision come to life. In addition, their dedicated team curates custom furniture crafted in the U.S., guaranteeing clients great quality and lifelong beauty.
In January 2020, Archer expanded her space by adding a storefront to elevate guest’s experience. “I want any person who walks through my doors to feel like they’re at home,” explained Archer.
However, with the rise of COVID-19 restrictions, Archer was faced with the unfortunate decision to shut down not even 4 months into opening. As regulations slowly lifted, she quickly adapted by selling gift baskets filled with charming home decor items and her signature gourmet coffee sourced from Olcotts.
Single-handedly, she managed a curbside service in her business parking lot, demonstrating her determination. “As a business owner, you need to adapt to changing times and that is what I did. My community showed up for me and supported us in those difficult times,” said Archer.
Today, the Kelly Archer Interior Storefront has experienced a surge in business, showcasing an extensive selection of furniture, home decor and gifts. This storefront provides a homey feel for guests to either freely select and customize pieces to their liking or find the ideal gift for any individual or occasion.
“No matter the size of their home, every human on earth deserves a beautiful environment and we will give them that,” said Archer.
Archer also shares her space by showcasing local businesses’ unique products ranging from exquisite candles and premium olive oil to captivating decor items. “I love to locally source, I source through a lot of domestic vendors to get this much, but we do want local as much as we can,” she said.
Kelly Archer Interior Inc. team’s mission is to engage with every individual who enters their space. They regularly orchestrate Sip and Shop events in collaboration with local businesses to be a connecting force for others.
All community members are welcome to enjoy complimentary beverages while mingling and collectively exploring the diverse range of offerings available for purchase.
“Today, people sit at home, don’t interact with each other and just order online and it comes to their door,” said Archer. “I don’t want that, I want to know everyone and I want to be a place where people come to enjoy.”
Growing a Community One Small Business at a Time
As a veteran in her industry, Archer openly shares her wealth of knowledge with the next generation of interior designers hoping to help them navigate the industry and inspire others to leap into interior design.
“I’m passionate about mentoring because I want the next generation to flourish. I love that this is a place for creativity not just mine,” she said. “It has my name on the building, but my other designers are creating it for people too.”
Being a devoted Bakersfield native, Archer is deeply committed to contributing to her community’s growth and well-being. Her team consistently extends support by donating gift baskets to various nonprofits as part of fundraising efforts.
“As a mother, I believe in showing love and support by making homes a source of comfort,” she said.
All those contributions originate from Kelly’s dream, transformed into a reality.
