It is an initiative-based campaign created by the Greater Bakersfield Chamber to focus and inspire Kern County to learn more about and to buy from chamber member businesses. They hope that through their efforts they are able to further help the Greater Bakersfield community realize the value of purchasing and interacting with small locally owned businesses.

The Greater Bakersfield Chamber is the region’s leading business membership, networking and advocacy organization, representing the interests of more than 1,100 members and more than 70,000 local jobs. Since 1920, the Chamber has focused on creating a thriving local economy and improving the quality of life for every resident of Greater Bakersfield. The Chamber promotes economic vitality, facilitates networking and business development opportunities, and advocates for public policies that support quality jobs and inclusive growth, guiding Bakersfield toward a better and brighter future.

The Chamber works every day to help build something better. Through the Shop Local, Show Now campaign initiative, they are able to advocate for their member’s interests, promote community development and support a vibrant local economy.

1. To highlight a Chamber business, you can use the hashtags #ShopLocalShopNow and #BakoChamber for the opportunity to be featured on Chamber social media channels. 
2. Chamber members can download and use a social media kit created to use on their digital platforms to encourage collaboration and sharing at shoplocalshopnow.com/resources/.

The Kern Women’s Business Center (KWBC) is a sponsor of the Shop Local, Shop Now campaign. 

The Mission Community Service Corporation hosts the Women’s Business Center in Kern County. Helping women, low-income, minority, and non-profit businesses gain the knowledge they need to start and run successful businesses. KWBC offers business start-up classes, monthly workshops, and free business consulting. The KWBC helps women succeed in business by providing training, mentoring, business development, and financing opportunities.
